Tortoises comes from the reptile family Testudinidae. They have hard shells which protects them from predators and other threats. Tortoises retract their necks and heads directly backwards into the shell to protect them likewise how humans are asked to go within themselves and search their spiritual selves. They vary in sizes and come in different species, such as the Galápagos giant tortoise, growing 1.2 metres (3.9 ft) in length, whereas others like the Speckled cape tortoise have shells that measure only 6.8 centimetres (2.7 in) long. Several lineages of tortoises evolved with large body sizes in excess of 100 kg, including the Galapagos giant tortoise and the Aldabra giant tortoise. Tortoises live long as land animals in the world. Tortoises are placid, very slow in movement, herbivores because they feed on grasses, weeds, leafy greens, flowers some fruits and some species eat worms or insects. Tortoises are Ancient and live very long almost anywhere. A group of Tortoises is called a creep as they have an exoskeleton and an endoskeleton. They cannot swim but can hold their breath for a long time. Only turtles can swim as turtle is not a Tortoise. Visible differences exists between the two. Tortoises reach maturity with age not by size.
