Arobunagu: Agwunsi/Agwụ Ofvia.

Arobunagu is a forest deity that is absolutely and totally in control of herbs, herbalism (mkpọrọgwụ na mkpafifia) and charms (ọgwụ) in the spiritual and physical world. It is an independent and very active spirit.

In ancient times, Arobunagu was the spirit our fore fathers used to give herbs and to prepare charms , every herbs and charms prepared without the help of Arobunagu cannot function properly. Arobunagu gives the inspiration to the chosen Dibịas that their call and area of specialization is in herbalism.

Every Ọgbanje, Ada ezenwanyi, ezenwoke, nurse, midwife, doctor, chemist and pharmacist is entitled and mandated to be in good terms with Arobunagu because the spirit follows all the Ọgbanje. In my mother’s village, Arobunagu is a very strong deity that is celebrated yearly.
