Ile ọma means humbly requesting for benevolence from the mariners. Especially, an individual who is not in good terms with their marine family (Ndị Mmiri). One who is a water element or any other element should go to their river of incarnation (Mmiri Chi) to appease the river spirits for assistance. This can be done (Ile ọma) in the river by the person. Or a good spiritualist, dibịa Mmiri on behalf of someone in their incarnator river (Mmiri So Chi) or the Dibịa Mmiri, own river. When asking mariners for something try and include what they love and use symbolic items to attract what you want them to do for you. By requesting for benevolence, one can easily obtain favour and grace from Ndị Mmiri. Ensure you are not in your monthly flow (mensuration) while going to the river as it will spoil the spiritual work. Do not indulge in any sexual activity four days before going to the river and 4 days after the ile ọma. Avoid wearing black or red clothes to the river. Endeavor to be thoroughly, deeply cleansed (ịkpụ alụ, Ikochi Ọṅụṅụ) from abortion, incest, murder, sacrilege, abomination of all sorts, also be in good terms with your Chi before embarking on any spiritual work.
Use items that will attract and make water spirits reconsider, enough forgive a mariner’s misbehavior and negligence despite the individual’s deviant and ignorant attitude. Best is to appeal and cajole your marine family to intervene. A benevolent request from the depth of the heart, brings miraculous transformation to difficult situations that enable someone to receive favorably, the mariners will open closed doors, financial favor, car, land, promotion, child, power among other needs. Worthy to note are suitable items to buy for ile ọma. Items like oku or native basket, nzu, edo, ọjị ugo, wooden toys, biscuits, corn, small handful of rice/beans, ground nut, raw yam, native egg, small hot drink, 4 cowries, 50 naira note, sweets, candles (white, red, yellow, blue), incense, a day old chick among other bio-gradable items.
How To Request And Conduct Marine Sacrifice.
I will it break down in the simplest way possible about ikpe Ile oma ndị mmiri/benevolent request from your mariners. Firstly, get the items ready in a small basket or oku except the native egg, a day old chick and oji ugo. It is always better to do ile ọma in your own river of incarnation. No need asking if you can perform it in any other river (except you reside outside the country). They are never the same when done in another person’s river than yours. Therefore, if one honestly seek pure Ọdịnanị, take odinani to your own land. Today, we live in a world that is spiritually polluted, therefore always cleanse yourself before embarking on any serious Ọdịnanị spiritual work. “Uriom okuku” is the best item to use for that. If you are a Dibịa or Ada ezenwanyi announce your presence in the river by singing eulogies to the water entities or ring the bell the light your candles and incense. If you are ordinary male undress and tie only white cloth on your waist. The female will undress then tie white cloth up to your chest. Remove all makeup, artificial hair and jewelries on you. Be natural.
How To Proceed.
1. Move close to the water and wash your head, face, both feet and hands. If possible, wash your mouth, if the water is drinkable. Then you are ready to start.
2. Alligator Pepper: Collect 4 or 7 seeds and circle it 4x on your head anti-clockwise, symbolizing Eke, Oye, Afọ, Nkwo. Throw it far away from you. If, it is a new ose oji, take it behind your back and open it, then bring it to your front and collect the number of seeds you want.
3. Uriom Okuku/Native chick.
Take one seed of ose oji and touch the uriom on the head chest and both legs. Then throw away the alligator pepper seed. Raise the uriom directly to Anyanwụ na Agbala/Sun, call on the Sun, all your spiritual guides, all powers that be, name of your river and remind your mmiri that Uriom is for cleansing, “ka eji ekpo uchu na ala Igbo, you are cleansing off any uchu/sin that could hinder your coming to them for ile ọma, use the day old chick to speak against any hardship, hindrances against receiving favors or financial aid. If you have wronged them in any way and it would hinder your visit of that day, you hereby cleanse it. If you have committed abortion and have spiritual cleansed yourself, tell them you are also cleansing it once again “Ana m ekpo ha uchu niile ịgbara ha na arụ ịmere na ite ime”. Whichever way you have brought negativity knowingly and unknowingly you are cleansing it off again, so your visit to them could be free from all negativity. Throw the uriom inside the river. It will come out, if they want it out. Wash both hands and move to the next item.
4. Akwa Igbo/Native Egg: Raise it directly to Anyanwụ na Agbala, call on your river entities remind them, that you raised the egg to douse all anger you have caused them. In the sense, that you have not brought anything for their appeasement/ibu mmiri to them or have not acknowledged them, you are aware that “akwa ka eji ezee mmụọ iwe na ani igbo, ana m ezee unu iwe nke mụ mma mgbe m kpa suru unu ma nke mụ amaghị”. Repeat the those words said during uriom cleansing again, appeal to them you are dousing the anger again, over the abomination around fertility, you are there in peace to discuss with them for goodness. Now, throw the egg inside the river or break it on any stone around you, if the water is not deep. Wash both hands and move to the next item.
5. Nzu/Kaolin or Earth Chalk: For instance, if you went with nzu “ndi mmiri” and you are male, throw the female nzu (difference is the spiral pattern on its body) inside the river and hold unto the one without pattern on the body, speak your mind. Crush the Nzu gradually in your hand while talking allow the particles drop inside the river bit by bit, until it is finished. Do that, the entire time you are speaking. If you are female, throw the Nzu without pattern inside the river and talk to your powers with the one with patterns. Otherwise, use pure nzu. They all work same way. Break bit by bit and be throwing the little chunks inside the river. Remember, you are there for ile oma therefore balance your words totally on goodness.
6. Edo.
Raise it upwards, directly to Anyanwu na Agbala, call your water family to remind them “edo ka eji edo obi na ani igbo”. That you are dousing their mind once again so you can bond better with them. Whatever you did to make them angry when you talked to them with nzu, may their anger subside “ka obi ha dajụọ”. Crush and crumble the Edo gradually in pieces while talking and drop inside the river.
7. Oji ugo (2)
Wash both inside the river and present both directly to Anyanwu na Agbala. Then toss one directly inside your mmiri and ask them to break that one for you. Then speak with the other, hold it in your palm ask for your heart desires, after spilt it and toss all lobes inside the water. Drop the other items gently inside the river.
8. If you are already a restored Dibịa or Ada ezenwanyi, take your ọfọ along and then raise it to Anyanwụ na Agbala to consolidate everything you have done spiritually. If you are not a restored dibia, take a little ọfọ stick, if you like, use it to do same. Drop it inside the river afterwards. However, Dibịas must go home with their own ọfọ after doing ile ọma for people in the river. Later, you can take full bath in the river, if it is allowed in your place. Or scoop water to wash your face 4x and leave the riverside. Go home quietly without looking back or talking to anyone on your way home.
Ile ọma is acceptable by mariners, once one perform such ritual with a clean, holy and open heart. Answer is guaranteed speedily. Therefore, do not hesitate to ask from your water family and never joke with Ile ọma even if you do not have money. Use the little you have to ensure that you get native egg, oji ugo, a day old chick. But, if things are so difficult only one Ọjị Ugo is sufficient for one to make a benevolent request from them. It is important to remember that the best time for doing ile ọma is during sunrise, say from 4-6 am.
Note in some communities, there are rules and regulations put in place against polluting the river. Some communities forbids spiritual sacrifices inside the river while some demand for money to grant permission. One can solve the problem by asking the marine family to come to a safe spot ie bush nearby the river to receive their offerings.

In conclusion, water has no enemy. Keep our waters bodies safe from pollution.
