The notion that wealth and success come effortlessly, like a cow giving milk without effort, is a dangerous misconception. Throughout history, those seeking quick riches have twisted the fundamental principle that hard work precedes reward, leading to harmful practices in pursuit of easy gains.
Focusing on traditional spirituality, many misunderstand it as a tool solely for gaining riches, power, protection, or causing harm. In reality, traditional spirituality is a cultural way of life, often unfairly branded as evil due to practices like idol worship or human sacrifice. While some misuse spirituality for nefarious purposes, this stems from the false belief that rewards come without effort.
The world, like a cow, is full of opportunities and riches, but you must actively work—squeezing and pressing—to extract them. The harder and smarter you work, the greater your reward. Grace or faith, including religious or spiritual practices, can enhance your efforts, acting as a catalyst to make work more fruitful, but they cannot replace it. No form of spirituality will bring wealth without effort unless unethical means are involved.
Society must teach the younger generation that hard work, not rituals or shortcuts, brings success. Instead of relying on prayers or sacrifices alone, we should guide them toward job opportunities and innovation. Our ancestors practiced spirituality but never abandoned their farms or markets. Even Jesus worked as a carpenter. Spirits may support your efforts, but they don’t provide without reciprocation—often at a steep cost.
Let’s instill in our children, communities, and gatherings the value of honest work. Plant the seeds of diligence today to reap a better tomorrow, guided by the wisdom of our ancestors and a moral conscience.
