Alụ Kwụsị And Its Functionalities In Igbo Society.

In Igbo society, Alụ Kwụsị aka alusi (Agbara/Arusi) refers to a spirit or natural energy, being venerated or revered by the Igbo people. Alusi can be associated with natural phenomena, ancestors or abstract concepts. They possess supernatural powers and play a significant role in the daily lives of Igbo people, influencing fertility, prosperity, justice, protection and other aspects of human existence.

In Igbo culture, Alushi is constantly re-energized and activated through rituals, offerings and festivals. They are considered intermediaries between the physical and spiritual worlds. The belief in Alusi is an essential part of Igbo tradition and spirituality.

Alusi has several key functions including:
1. Interpretation of spiritual laws and ensures that they are enforced in a fair and impartial manner.

2. Dispute resolution: Alusi resolves disputes between individuals, organizations and communal entities.

3. Protection of rights: Alusi protects the rights and freedoms of its people ensuring that they are not violated by  individuals.

4. Checking and balancing: Alusi serves as a check and balance in the community ensuring that they do not overstep their boundaries.

5. Administration of justice: Alusi ensures justice is administered fairly and impartially. Those who break the law are held accountable.

6. Providing Spiritual guidance: Alusi provides spiritual support and guidance to the community and helps to clarify the meaning and application of spiritual laws.

7. Ensuring justice, safety and equity of spiritual law.

8. Protection of the Community: Alusi ensures that the community is upheld and any spiritual laws or actions that violate it are struck down.

9. Upholds Sacred Covenant : Igbo ancestors ensured that Alusi reminds their children about the covenant enacted between them and their natural mmụọ. They ensure continuity in lineages like the Egwu Ụmụ Ọka 2024 festival that took place in Awka, Anambra state. Akaete iyi Nnenwanyi Nomeh is the goddess known for protecting her children and attending to their various needs. In turn, Ọka culture and tradition made such festival and celebrations a honorarium for her.

10. Control And Regulation Of Indigenous Igbo Markets: Many markets are backed by Igbos deities. They were institutional in the progress of many individuals in that community but a lot of people are not aware. The derivation of Eke, Orie, Afọ, Nkwọ markets spread all over Igboland were made possible by these deities. They watched over their children trade and transact buisness with their neighboring communities. They protect them under a watchful gaze, so they will not be cheated upon. They gave many men and women inspirations who later became buisness moguls, established conglomerates and became captains of industries.

Alusi is gentle and sometimes humane in nature. They detest and dislike evil doers. Before you go to the spiritual court (Alusi) to report anyone be sure your hands are very clean and stand on the truth because anybody killed by Alusi cannot be buried until they are appeased. If the person is buried without any appeasement or settlement, it is likely their will be repercussions, the whole family will be wiped out or fall under great unexplainable tribulations. Every spiritually programed mmụọ has spiritual powers and can never be undermined. Alusi is Alusi and can never be found defeated. If one have a case or summoned before any deity, I advise you, go there and clear your name if you are innocent. Stop kabashing or become afraid to the extent that you disregard the summon. Some Alusi announce their presence through great swarm of bees, army of black ants or chase you continuously in your dreams. You need to be spiritually conscious to know when you have been reported to a shrine. Rumour has it that Alusi were instituted using humans, do disregard such fallacies. They were instituted and invoked by spoken words, herbs and some animal parts by the initiates. No human was used to institute deities except the evil ones did so behind the scenes.
