ALỤ KWU SI is a spiritually programed spirit, created and activated spiritually to protect communities, kindreds or towns. It goes along with its subordinate deities to stand strong. During our forefathers’ era, the reason Alụ kwusi was spiritually created and programed in every community, is to guide and protect everything in that community, to also stop evil and evil doers. There was no religion in that era. Many believe Alụ kwusi as a spiritual court because no existence of police stations or courts then. People depended on these natural energies for the protection of their children and the next generation. The reason many today, have spiritual links with some Alụ kwusi without knowing why. Every Alusi have subordinates. Many of them are male while few are female in vibration and nature. They have subordinates, these subordinates of every Alusi are natural energies like Ogwugwu, Ngene, Ngwụ,Akpu, Orji , Akwali Ọmụmụ , Ana Mbala, Agwụ, Arobinagu and Ndị Mmiri. These are the subordinates of every created shrine on earth. Some Alusi chose many of their staff bearers (Eze Mmụọ or Akaji Ọfọ) and intermediary while some chose only one person to be their staff bearer (Eze Mmụọ or Akaji ọfọ). The reason why every Alusi have their own staff bearer (Eze mmụọ) is from the spiritual agreement in the kindred. There are some kindreds that have the privilege to be shrine spiritual staff bearer (Eze mmụọ) , you cannot go to this Alusi without going through his Eze Mmụọ and only males (ụmụ nwoke) are chosen to be staff bearers while females are hardly chosen due to their menstrual circle.
Many of these Alusi have lakes, rivers, streams (Mmiri) in various communities. Either the river, lake, stream belongs to the Alusi of that community. Every lake has Ngene called Ngene mmiri of that Alusi. Ngene mmiri is the male marine spirit of every spiritual shrine that always has spiritual link with female and can be called spiritual husband.
ALUKWUSI N’ANA IGBO AND HOW IT STARTED.
Alusi simply mean alụ- kwụ – si/ Abomination must stop. In the olden days, people associated freely with their siblings, friends, family, and relatives. There was no fear of any sort. For instance, anyone intentionally hurting another. Then every community had neither fence or a gate. They hardly locked their doors because there was nothing like stealing, killing, poisoning, raping, murder or other atrocities. In the long run our communal life became corrupted some settlers started challenging the indigenous owners of the land, mean hearted individuals threatened the lives of others through witchcraft, bad medicine (igwo nsị) land grabbing among other evil vices. Some settlers traveled to another tribes to get harmful charms to hurt and kill innocent indigenous owners of the land in other to take their possessions. The spiritual defenders of the land Ezemuo, Eze Ana, Akajiofo, Adaeze nwanyị, Ndị Ichie, Nze na Ọzọ and Eze expressed great concern over the uprisings and calamities, they had meetings and decided to work together as a team to solve the problem of man’s inhumanity to man after numerous consultations with the Gods. The revelation was to summon the spirit that will administer punishment on evil individuals, all will be well. Evil atrocious acts will come to an end. If people become aware the spirit of say no to evil will punish or kill them, when they commit evil by killing, land grabbing, raping, stealing any possession that do not belong to them, the spirit of stop evil and some other fearful spirits invoked down in agreement with the communities (forebears) to stop evil (Alukwusi) will be invoked. Some where invoked in peculiar places like in different trees like Ngwụ, Orji or in some symbolic carvings like artifacts. These great trees housed spirits which no one plants till today as they sprout by themselves. Reason such spiritual trees kills and render any family that cut them useless because there are spiritual entities in the trees which were invoked therein to protect the people from evil.
Having instituted alukwusi, the staff of authority called ọfọ which represents equity and justice was used to activate its potency, with declarations that anyone that sponsors, participates or engages in evil in Igboland shall be destroyed by alusi and Mother-Earth (ana) will fight against them. Thus sealing the declaration by striking ọfọ hard on the earth several times with the spiritual custodians in attendance like Ezemuo, Akajiofo, Ezeana, Dibịa, Adaeze nwanyị, ụmụada and every group that make up the different communities in Igbo land. They all are carried along with their agreement to be involved during every process. Reason, alusi is very active till today. Some are instituted for judgement, protection against invaders, intruders, killers, land grabbers and kidnappers. Against those who kill unborn babies through abortion, the spirits will fight against the abortionist. Even true odinani adherents are not spared once they deviate and do evil. Alusi can kill without mercy. However, If alusi kills anyone, the mark will be evident on the individual’s body indicating the dispensation of justice by the spirits, either their body turns black or become bloated.
Moreover, it is dangerous to destroy any Alusi as ignorance is a killer. If one does not know the enacted covenant agreed on, it can wipe out the entire generation unless the covenant is reenacted, activated and fulfilled as ọfọ of many spiritual leaders were involved and stuck the earth in unison declaring iseeeeeeee or ihaaa during the spiritual process, various ọfọ hit the ground to institute and active alusi, therefore we should be very careful not to shake the beehives. Alu kwụ si was done for good of humanity, they fight against evildoers. A word of advice: Do not participate in cutting down spiritual trees or desecrating ancestral altars as the spirits never leave or die but their physical representation can be affected, moreso the covenants are still active and the result of defiance can bring calamities, untold hardship, late marriages, failure at the edge of breakthrough so many repercussions numerous to mention here.
